Northy Green — ProVisions, inaugural exhibition and grand opening

I am thrilled to announce ProVisions, the inaugural exhibition at Northy Green, grand opening on Sunday, November 8th, from 2:00 – 6:00 PM.
Housed in a restored 1840s rural general store, Northy Green gallery connects the building’s historic role as a supplier of essential goods to a modern exchange of aesthetic and spiritual vision. The gallery takes its name from the second floor– formerly the store’s warehouse– where amongst the graffiti from post- Civil War, Gilded Age- a signature with particular flourish written in chalk at the top of the wall stands out: “Northy Green July 26, 1880”
In the 19th century, this space provided rare luxuries alongside vital tools. The original drawers still bear hand-painted names from that era: cacks, buskins, garrest mitts, higging, mull, linen, parasols, silk, velour, velvet.
ProVisions reimagines this historic trade, offering a contemporary interpretation of what constitutes both rare luxury and essential tool: highly practiced artistic vision. The debut exhibition brings together 14 accomplished local artists whose studied manipulation and mastery of their chosen mediums offer their learned worlds back to the community.
featured artists
Normandy Alden, Amy Cannon, Jane Carr, Diana Hall, James Herman, Megan Irving, Steph Marcus, Mark Mastroianni, Marc Pelletier, Richard Saba, Elizabeth Schula, Robert Seward, Lilian Voorhees, and David Wilson.
